As early as 2003, “Das Kleine Baulexikon” reached more than 10,000 Internet users daily, which was remarkable at the time. In 2010, the specialist publisher Schiele & Schön released it as an app for iOS. In June 2013, the Baulexikon 2.0 app now launches with improved graphics and new functions. In addition, the Baulexikon app has also been available to all users of Android devices since 2013. Towards the end of 2021, the specialist publisher Schiele& Schön said it could no longer meet the technical requirements of the two major app operating systems. A future-proof solution is currently being worked on.
Through his work, author Gerhard Holzmann shares his experience in construction consulting with all interested parties, such as professionals, learners, and do-it-yourselves. With a focus on natural building materials and the fields of building ecology, Gerhard Holzmann also explains terms from architectural theory, building and housing law, renovation and damage detection as well as art history in a comprehensive and understandable way. At the appropriate points, tables and tables of construction figures supplement the facts and concepts presented.
The construction lexicon is also constantly maintained and expanded. Search queries for terms that are not found can be sent directly from the app to the author and will be answered immediately. In close cooperation with the publisher, these queries are processed and taken into account for the next data update of the Baulexikon app. In this way, the Baulexikon is always up to date Further functions of the app of the construction lexicon includes:
- All terms are sorted alphabetically and can be accessed directly via the search
- The search starts immediately when the first character is entered.
- Terms that are considered particularly important can be saved in their own favorites list.
- Data updates can be requested directly in the app.
- The Baulexikon app can also be used offline.
The app is currently not available online, as the specialist publisher Schiele & Schön says it has technical problems with the new IOS and Android operating systems and has not yet been able to cope with them. We are currently working on new solutions in order to be able to continue to offer you this comprehensive work.
